ScoutForce continues to change the face of recruiting for NAIA and DIII schools like Concordia College in Ann Arbor. Colleges have learned over the years that they can grow a university through a successful athletic department, just look at what Joe Paterno has done for Penn State in the last 40 years. Many D2 schools have turned to marketing athletics, especially football, in hopes to bring in a growing student body. Concordia in Ann Arbor has caught wind of this idea and has decided to launch its first football program ever. With an undergraduate student body of less than 600 people, adding a football program will grow the campus 15%.

Starting a new football program from the ground up is no easy task, especially given that they just hired the head football coach in January, which means he has less than a year to enroll enough students to put into pads to compete in the 2010 inaugural season. Fortunately for Concordia they purchased ScoutForce for the football coach to be named later a number of months in advance and linked the online prospect questionnaire to the Concordia Football page on their athletic site. This helped Concordia collect hundreds of prospects before they even knew who was going to be running the program.
With the help of ScoutForce, Concordia has been any to recruit more effectively and efficiently while only paying $35/month for each sport. Before the Athletic Director moved all their sports programs to ScoutForce, Concordia had two of their teams try the 30-day free trial. It didn't take very long for them to become believers and now all their paid coaching staff benefits from the tool.
We sat down with Karl Kling, Men's Baseball Coach, whose JV and Varsity baseball teams currently account for 10% of the undergraduate student body, to get his thoughts on ScoutForce:

What do you like most about ScoutForce?
Coach Kling: Several things really. The fact that it is a system that is accessible from anywhere allows it to not only be utilized by various individuals, but also one that doesn't necessitate the transportation of one particular laptop or file folder. Another great feature is the sortability based on numerous categories as well as the ability to see numerous communications with the same individual. An additional benefit is the ability to send a mass communication with the simple click of a button rather than searching for contact emails and entering each in individually. While it has been a short period, I have yet to find any problem areas.
How has your experience been with Training and Customer Support?
Coach Kling: As an addendum to the above question, I think the biggest benefit thus far has been the rapid response by Phil Brabbs when there is a question or suggestion. Nothing beats good technical support and service!
How has ScoutForce improved your recruiting efforts?
Coach Kling: Vastly. It has made it easier, more accessible, more user friendly and quite frankly it has made us more excited to begin the process so that we are already at this point further along than we normally would be at this time.
What do you think about the affordability of ScoutForce?
Coach Kling: Having priced other versions, this is clearly a better avenue to pursue. (Check it out for yourself: ScoutForce Pricing)
What do you think about the ease of use of ScoutForce?
Coach Kling: Awesome. It allows me to search and catalog more information on each recruit then I ever could have imagined.
Where do you see ScoutForce in a few years?
Coach Kling: As a leader in this field, ScoutForce is a company we are anxious to grow with. |
